Stewed Plums

Can something so delicious be so simple? It’s the slow cooking that brings out the flavour of the plums and apple juice and makes this a remarkably tasty dish. They're a great topping to porridge in the morning or for a naughty dessert  drain any excess juice, mash them and stir in 200ml of whipped cream for a delicious Plum Fool.

Ingredients

  • 200ml of any Cawston Press Apple Juice
  • 6 red plums

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 125°C/250°F/Gas mark 1-2.
  2. Place the plums and apple juice in a small casserole dish with a lid or pop them in an overproof dish and cover tightly with foil.
  3. Cook overnight and serve with your breakfast for the perfect start to the day!
  4. Alternatively allow them to cool and serve as a dessert with Greek yogurt.
  5. Remember to remove the stones once they’re cooked.
  6. If time is off the essence you can turn up the temperature and cook them over a shorter period but they do taste better cooked slowly.
